When we have an appointment, you don’t come and see me. You come and meet yourself. The session is all about you. It’s about the objective we set for you during the preliminary session.
The time together is not spent chit-chatting over a cup of tea or coffee like old friends. While you may enjoy the conversation at the time, you would not have done one step toward your main goal. You would leave unsatisfied. Not worth the money, right?
During the session, I enter your world with a blank hard disk.
How about going for a walk to give you a better idea of what to expect? A walk? Well… a virtual one…
At the end of it, things will be clearer… at least, I hope!
Have you put on comfortable shoes? Let’s go!
Imagine you asked me to come to the city you live in. I’ve never been there and you show me around.
As we tour, you may point out a statue. You don’t think much of it. You may not even like it. But well, it is part of the city so you briefly mention it to me and walk away.
But I may want to know more about that statue. So I’ll start asking you questions about it. Because I’m new to the city, my interrogations might make you consider it with different eyes. Or, you may not want to comment more about it. This is your choice and that is fine.
Next on the tour, I may enquire about a side alley. When you look at it, you see it dark and unwelcoming.
You have the option to ignore it and we move away from it. You have the option to come back to it later.
It’s up to you!
You also have the option to enter it.
Who knows where it leads to? This exploration enriched with my questions may lift the curtain on a part of the city you never suspected existed.
If that’s so! Congratulations! You’ve enriched your city map.
This is an illustration of the “Aha! moment”!
This is a glimpse of what coaching is about!
Aside from this, if you agree with it, I may share some of my city’s features. We’ll see if that piques your interest and if you want to apply it to yours.
So! What do you think?
Do you want to show me around your city?
